Tadoba National Park was established in 1955 and together with Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary forms the largest national park in Maharashtra.

Densely forested hills, meadows and wetlands are features of the park. Tiger, leopard, sloth bear, gaur, nilgai, striped hyena, sambar, chital, and chousingha are among the mammalian species to be found, while Tadoba Lake is home to the marsh mugger crocodile as well as many wetland birds. At present Tadoba is the best destination to look for the elusive striped cat ‘tiger’.
